Tallinn University dominates TTT juniores for first Top 6 win

 A team much in need of a win, the Tallinn University played like a desperate squad on Saturday, March 12 and used a 17-1 run to power past TTT juniores for a 73-57 home win.

 

 

Janne Rits`s and Kersti Sirel`s team achieved six wins in their first nine games of the season.

 

They suffered a 0-8 streak since then, including the first and the eigth loss against TTT juniores – both on the road, both in single digits.

 

Tallinn University benefitted greatly from their improved passing and excellent rebounding (52-38) to build a 25 point lead, 45-20, early in the second half.

 

Digna Strautmane missed all 12 field goal attempts until that moment.

 

She connected two three point shots in a single minute and Marianna Kļaviņa added another ball from the deep to cut the gap to 16 points, 45-29.

 

The hosts withstood this challenge and held their opponents to just 20 points inside the perimeter.

 

Tallinn University improved to 1-7, while TTT juniores dropped to 2-5.

 

All time series: 6-3 (this season 1-2).

 

Stat of the game: Tallinn University players made 26 out of 27 field goals after assists or 96,2%! It was example of amazing team work.

 

Stars of the game: Four Tallinn University players scored in double digits. Trine Kasemägi had a game high 21 points. She also grabbed seven rebounds and forced five fouls for a efficiency rating of 23.

 

Rosemary Rits posted her second double-double of the season, finishing with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

 

Daytona alumni Samantha Mac Kay (Atlantic 10 conference 2009-2013) scored 16 points, including four three point shots, while Greeta Üprus had 14 points.
