FCR Media/Rapla emerge victorious at Tallinn University

FCR Media/Rapla led for 37 minutes to grab a 85-80 road win over Tallinn University on Friday, December 2.

Howard Frier`s and Gerly Kostla`s team took off for a fast start to build a 13 points lead in just six minutes of action, 19-6.

 

The guests renewed a 13 points advantage several times throughout the first half, 37-24 and 40-27.

 

They fought off the next comeback from Tallinn University to maintain a double-digit lead with seven minutes left, 70-60.

 

Janne Rits team went on a 2-13 run for its first lead in the game less than three minutes before the end of regulation, 72-73.

 

Another four lead changes followed until Samantha Mac Kay drained a three pointer to extend the hosts lead up to two points, 76-78.

 

Laina Mesila-Kaarmann tied the game two more times before scoring a game winning basket from the charity stripe with 46 seconds left, 81-80.

 

The hosts missed four shots in their final attacks and fouled their opponents twice before the buzzer.

 

Belarus champions Francisca Donders and Darya Lipinskaja were perfect from the free throw line to seal the game.

 

FCR Media/Rapla improved to 5-3, while Tallinn University dropped to 5-4.

 

All time series: 9-4 (this season 1-0).

 

Stat of the game: the guests made all nine free throws in the last three minutes.

 

Stars of the game: Laina Mesila-Kaarmann was huge in the clutch time, finishing the game with 19 points, five rebounds and four blocked shots for a efficiency rating of 24.

 

Pirgit Püü added 20 points, eight assists and three steals, while Francisca Donders had 21 points, three assists and three steals.

 

Trine Kasemägi replied with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Samantha Mac Kay scored 26 points and dished six assists.
