Three time Latvian champions SK Cēsis have today confirmed that the club will play in a yellow-blue jerseys to support the people of Ukraine.

Cēsis will play in a blue-yellow home jersey, while playing in an all yellow strip on the road games, starting from Saturday, March 8.

“This change in colours is designed to support the people of Ukraine in their struggle,” explained SK Cēsis president Krišjānis Kļaviņš.

“We want to remind that we are with the people of Ukraine in every game. It`s unacceptable when a foreign army enters it by force.”

Ukraine pulled out of a trade deal with the EU under Cremlin pressure last year, sparking months of violent protests in Kiev and the February 22 ouster of the former president Viktor Yanukovich.

Ukraine says Russia has occupied Crimea, where the Russian Black Sea fleet is based. According to Reuters, Cremlin has moved some 16,000 troops onto the Crimean peninsula since February 27 in addition to its forces already there, the Ukrainian government says.
